Oral Roberts was an American evangelist and faith healer who was a pioneer of televangelism. Born in 1918 in Oklahoma, he had a powerful conversion experience as a young man that led him to dedicate his life to preaching and healing the sick. Over the course of his long career, he conducted hundreds of healing crusades and faith campaigns around the world, and became one of the most recognizable and influential figures in the world of Christian ministry. He founded Oral Roberts University in 1963 and was a major figure in the Charismatic Movement. He died in 2009 at the age of 91.
